Daylesford TattsLotto winner set for retirement

A Daylesford man has confessed to a surreal experience after the revelation that he had won a division one prize of $830,431.50 in TattsLotto draw 3765 on Saturday 19 August 2017.

Speaking to a Tatts official this morning to confirm his win, the man described how he had discovered he had a division one winning TattsLotto ticket.

“That is amazing isn’t it? That is amazing!” the man exclaimed

“I went into the newsagent this morning to check my ticket and it was a strange experience.

“I normally check it myself, and I went to check it at the counter and overheard the owner chatting to another customer.  He was telling him that someone in town had won $830,000 and I put my ticket in and it said I had won a big one!

“I wasn’t sure if it could be true that it was me but now I am talking to you – that is that – it is true!”

The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, admitted to having played TattsLotto for several years.

“I play every week, with a QuickPick. It’s nice to recoup some of the money!” the man laughed.

When asked how the man plans to spend his TattsLotto windfall he confessed that it would come in handy for an upcoming holiday.

“We are about to go on holiday overseas, and it has all been paid for but this will give us a bit more spending money!” the happy man declared.

“Apart from that I will be putting it away for a couple of years until I retire, we don’t really need anything and we are very happy with our lifestyle.

“In three years’ time I’ll retire, and it will be very nice to have it put away for then.”

The over-joyed man admitted that the celebrations of the win would be kept to a minimum.

“We found out about 11 o’clock, and we’ve had a bit of time to sit down and digest it before talking to you – now it’s back to reality! Nothing will change for us today except maybe a glass of champagne!”

The man purchased his winning 36-game QuickPick entry from Daylesford Newsagency, 45 Vincent Street, Daylesford.

Leslie Faulkhead, owner of Daylesford Newsagency, said it was exciting to have shared the life-changing news with the winner.

“It is excellent to know it was a local and regular customer who has won,” he said.

“If you can’t win it yourself, the next best thing is that someone local has won it and you are able to change someone’s life greatly.

“We’ve sold about six division one winning entries here in the past, but it’s been a couple of years since we’ve had a winner – we’d love to sell one every week!

“We wish the winner all the best with their win and hope they enjoy it!”

The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 3765 on Saturday 19 August 2017 were 39, 3, 30, 23, 9 and 45 while the supplementary numbers were 7 and 17.

Across Australia there were five division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 3765, including two from Victoria, one from Queensland and two from New South Wales.

Last financial year, there were 275 division one winning Tatts entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $283 million.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 267 so far this calendar year, including 102 won by Tatts customers.
